Welcome, my name is Ray Algiere, Senior Technical Support Specialist at Cerritos College.

My office hours are:  Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm

Phone number: (562) 860-2451 ext. 2181

Email: ralgiere@cerritos.edu

I have been employed at Cerritos College for twenty seven years full time, one year part time, three years as a student hourly and two years as an adult hourly. Wow! I am getting old, where has the time gone? I started working under Gordon Sword in the Electronics Issue room, as a student in the evening checking out equipment while I went to school. A few years later the college changed the way they paid their hourly employees and I was changed to an adult hourly. Gordon became ill and latter retired and I worked part time in the Issue room during the day for one year to help out. His position opened up and I applied for the Electronics Equipment Technician and was hired. I worked in the Technology Department for 12 years. Gordon Sword was the greatest person any one could work for, he is missed. He treated everyone fairly and did not give his favorites special treatment. I loved the students, building electronic circuits and fixing the equipment but there is no future in electronic. It's a throw away and replace world. After that I was transferred to Information Technology.

My current position is a Senior Technical Support Specialist. Wow what a great title. I would love to tell you what we do but it's endless. I really enjoy getting a screw driver out and fixing the hardware. Among the many other things my position does is work on and repair software, hardware, and the Application Administration of different servers. I have about five more years to work and then I plan to retire.

My greatest joys in life my wife Wendee, My two Dachshunds Rusty and Sable, camping, the outdoors and restoring my two 1971 Plymouth Cuda’s. I just finished the first one. It was a three year project. I am currently working on the second Cuda. If you like, you can check them out at algiere.org or socalcuda.com. My wife Wendee and I love traveling. We like to spend our time at the beach along the coast. We really enjoy camping and the outdoors.
