Hello everyone and Welcome to Ray's Place,
This site is designed to help Cerritos College staff and friends be a little more informed about Information Technology, the IT Department and myself. This information will help everyone here at Cerritos College and anyone visting get a chance to learn a little more about myself. I have broken the site down into several pages. These pages will help you to learn about security threats, how to make a job ticket, navigate through the IT web page. It will also let me show off my family, my 1971 Plymouth Cuda, 250 gallon Salt water Aquarium and some very nice friends I work with.
I have been employed at Cerritos College for 30 years full time, one year part time, three years as a student hourly and two years as an adult hourly. Wow! I am getting old, where has the time gone? I started working under Gordon Sword in the Electronics Issue room, as a student in the evening checking out equipment while I went to school here at Cerritos College. A few years later the college changed the way they paid their hourly employees and I was changed to an adult hourly. Gordon became ill and latter retired and I worked part time in the Issue room during the day for one year to help out. His position opened up and I applied for the Electronics Equipment Technician and was hired. I worked in the Technology Department for 12 years. Gordon Sword was the greatest person any one could work for, he is missed. He treated everyone fairly and did not give his favorite’s special treatment. I loved the students, building electronic circuits and fixing the equipment but there is no future in electronic. It's now a throw away and replace world. So I decided I needed to transfer some where I had a future and that was to the Information Technology Department.
My current position is a Senior Technical Support Specialist. Wow what a great title. I would love to tell you what we do but it's endless and thankless. I really enjoy getting a screw driver out and fixing the hardware. Among the many other things my position does is to work on software, repair hardware, and the applications and administration of different servers. I have less then 2 more years to work and then I plan to retire. My wife two dogs and myself plain to move out of state but still stay in the mid west. Our thoughts are to possibly move to Nevada, Texas, Utah or maybe even Arizona
My greatest joys in life are my wife Wendee, My two Dachshunds Rusty and Sable, camping, the outdoors, restoring my two 1971 Plymouth Cuda's and my new found passion my 250 gallon Salt Water Aquarium. I just finished the first Cuda. It was a three year project. I am currently working on the second Cuda. The picture above is the first Cuda I rebuilt. If you like, you can check them out at socalcuda.com. I have many photos of the car starting form the beginning and many more when it was completed. Also you can view my other web site at socalreefsystems.com. My wife Wendee and I love travelling. We like to spend our time at the beach along the coast. We really enjoy camping and the outdoors. This site will be updated often so please come back and take a tour of Ray’s Place.
