Our course offerings in the Operations area include not only the basic operation of an iSeries 400 (AS/400) but also include the use of iSeries Navigator to operate the iSeries 400. The labs will provide you the opportunity to do System management task in both the green screen, web access and GUI mode. Topics covered in these courses are shown on the syllabi for the sections. Two iSeries 400's are available to students in both sections. One on campus and the other off-campus server named Thumper.
Online and In-Class Sections
All students will meet on the first day of class for an orientation. Orientation will be repeated the second night of class at 5:00. After that you will be expected to read the orientation materials on-line. The IP address for the host iSeries 400 (AS/400) for both sections is 22.214.171.124 and its name is i400620. Students will be provided with software to use for terminal emulation and iSeries Navigator to use on their computers. Instructions on the installation of this software is available in the iSeries Operations textbook. This will provide easy access to the off-campus system. When loading iSeries access for Windows make sure you load the service pack for correct operations. Note: iSeries Access for Windows is required to access iSeries Navigator.
Printing on your local printer, when at home is only available through iSeries Navigator.
