Objective: To become familiar with basic functions of Windows,
Windows Explorer and the Hotmail e-mail service.
Notice: This assignment must be completed
by the deadline to receive credit.
Late assignments will not be accepted. It simply is not fair to those students
that complete the assignment before the deadline. Remember, there is no partial
credit on assignments.
Use the Windows XP textbook
for this project.
- Acquire an e-mail account enter your email address into your MyCerritos profile.
- All messages sent to Mr. Rodriguez must include a the
following :
Subject: CIS-101 Class ##### followed by a brief
description of the message.
Signature:
Your Name
CIS-101 Class Number #####
Please note: messages without the above Subject &
Signature will be returned/deleted.
- Read the Preface on pages iv through viii.
Be sure to follow the Instructions for Restoring the Default Folder
Options Settings.
- Read and work through the Windows Project 1 on pages WIN1.03
through WIN1.54
- Review the "What You Should Know" section on page
WIN1.54.
Be sure that you
are able to perform the listed tasks.
- Read and work through Part 1 and Part 2 of the "In the
Lab" project 4 on
page WIN 1.64 & WIN 1.65.
- Do the following after Part 2 to save your document.
- Insert a storage media (e.g., diskette, USB flash drive) into your computer.
- Click
File on the Notepad menu bar.
- Point to and click on Save As on the
File menu.
- Type Today's Homework in the File name text box.
- Point to and click on the Save in box
arrow button.
- Point to and click on the appropriate device icon.
- Point to and click on the
Save button.
- Using your E-mail account, send the document created and saved on your
storage media as:
TodaysHomework.txt
as an attachment to
grodriguez@cerritos.edu .
Enter the following in the
Subject of your email message:
CIS-101 Class #### Assign. 1
Be sure to include the Signature as described above.
- An e-mail response will be sent to you, verifying your satisfactory completion of
this project.
- Read and work through the Windows Project 2 , Using Windows XP
Explorer, on pages WIN2.01 through
WIN2.21 .
Windows Explorer is a tool that you will often use when using a
computer.
- Review the "What You Should Know" section on page
WIN2.21. Be sure that you
are able to perform the listed tasks.
