Gear List for Overnight Trip
In Spring '13 Biology 100 will focus on the deserts of Southern California.
It will include an overnight trip to Joshua Tree National Park and the
surrounding area.
Rediscover that you
can enjoy learning!
COURSE FORMAT typically
includes three Friday night, 3-hour meetings (6-9 pm), a one-day field
trip in the Southern California area (within 1 1/2 hrs of campus, expect
to provide your own transport/carpool), and a
3-day overnight camping fieldtrip to either the Eastern Sierras or
Southern California Desert (Cerritos College provides a bus for
overnight trip). Field trips include short hikes (sometimes over
trail-less terrain).
GENERAL
DESCRIPTION: The course explores the geology, ecology,
plants, and animals of specific sites in southern California including
some cultural history and human impacts on the landscape.
NOTE:
Biology 100 DOES NOT
fulfill your general education life science requirement.
Equipment
Checklist for Overnight Field Trip
(pdf) TRANSPORTATION
AND EQUIPMENT: Students usually need to
provide their own transport for the one-day, local trip. Cerritos College provides field trip transportation in the
form of busses, for the multi-day, overnight trip.
Students
will cook in self-organized groups, and should expect to have to provide their
own camping equipment (see below).
